Two of us had the chance to go out to Los Angeles to go attend the ‘Catching Fire’ movie premiere here are my reflections and review of the weekend, with Heather’s to come later:
I actually was able to attend part of the Fan Camp on Saturday, even though my flight into LA was delayed, but I’m glad I made it! By the time I got there the actual camp had already been erects with tons of tents along the side of the Nokia Plaza, and fans were lined up to meet Willow Shields (Prim) and then later on Stephanie Leigh Schlund (Cashmere). All the screens on the plaza were showing mockingjays and people representing Kindle Fire were there taking photos of fans in front of a green screen. Here are a few pictures I was able to snap:
In terms of the premiere it was pretty amazing, even though I didn’t get to go to the red carpet. We had seats in the center section and many of the named tributes from the ‘Hunger Games’ were sitting a few rows behind us! It was cool that they were supporting the next film, even though they weren’t in it.
Check out this clip posted on the Official Hunger Games Movie Facebook page yesterday night entitled “Your job is to be a distraction…”
It looks like one of the scenes from District 11 when Katniss and Peeta are on the Victory Tour, and I absolutely love the intensity of the moment. Who else is excited to see more?!

Check out this parody by Zenn Films that melds the world ofThe Hunger Games with the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur - which is actually being observed right now. Here’s part of the description from the video’s creators:
The Jewish Hunger Games Trailer – The MUCH-ANITCIPATED SEQUEL to the international blockbuster sensation THE HUNGER GAMES: Every year, the Chosen People of Israel must fast for 24 hours to atone for their sins. Are you fasting for The Jewish Hunger Games? … and “may the lox be ever in your flavor!”

The latest casting news is that Julianne Moore is now confirmed to be playing Alma Coin, President of District 13, in Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2.
She is the newest addition to the cast and will be joined by Natalie Dormer, as Cressida, Evan Ross as Messalla and Stef Dawson as Annie Cresta.
What do you think of these castings? I always imagined President Coin as older than what Julianne Moore looks, but I’m also terrible at determining how old people are by appearance. Tell us your thoughts in the comments section!
Today The Capitol PN Facebook page updated its cover to one promoting the 75th Hunger Games, which is a Quarter Quell, and featuring Katniss and Peeta.
Citizens of Panem: Every quarter century, The Capitol honors the anniversary of its victory over the Districts with a special edition of the Games. This year—for the first time in history—your favorite victors will return as tributes. As usual, all residents are required by Capitol law to watch the Games. Insubordination will not be tolerated.
It also came with this message which is also featured on the new cover photos of the District Facebook pages:
What do you think of these images? Love them? Hate them? Or just want more of them!
Remember that empty chair from yesterday? Well today it’s filled with Haymitch! This makes me a terrible guesser and our readers good ones, but the style through me off and I don’t always associate Haymitch with The Capitol. Another chair was posted too with the caption “Meet #YourFashionHero” and is to be filled later today. It’s probably Cinna right? Or could I be wrong again?!

It’s March 4th and Capitol Couture filled that empty chair with a portrait of the one and only Effie Trinket dressed head to toe in pink ruffles.
Another empty chair with the caption “Let’s hear some #ApplausePlease! ” was posted on the Capitol Couture Instagram, and was later filled on Fandango with Caesar Flickerman, with now pink hair:
One other empty chair was posted today too on the Instagram account with the following caption “#SipInStyle, only @IGNdotcom. Tomorrow at 10am PT”. From that caption my best guess would be that we’re going to see Cinna next, but it could be Portia. Who do you think it’ll be?

Today on The Capitol PN Facebook page the following post showed up, along with a link back to CapitolCouture.pn “Chins up. Smiles on. Fashion-forward citizens of Panem, are you prepared to spring into the Capitol?”. When you click on the link the once open site dedicated to all things fashionable in the Capitol is now locked and requiring a password. Pretty mysterious if you ask me.
What surprises do you think they have in store for us this year? I’m guessing it might be focused on the outfits that Katniss and Peeta wear on the Victory Tour, and opening in spring based on the message.
UPDATE:If you trace the pattern that the moving line is making on the home page it will bring you to the following screen that has another teaser of an empty chair on it. (Note: I personally couldn’t get the pattern tracing to work in Firefox, but it did work in Safari) You also have the chance to subscribe if you haven’t already.
The page also has links to a new Capitol Couture Instagram page and the Facebook page, which now has the chair picture and the following message “Always Elegant. Always Prompt. Join us on March 4. #LadiesFirst”. So who’s excited for March 4th? Thanks to reader BlueMoon for pointing this out in the comments!
